Default Sam hutchinson retires age 21

Chelsea youngster, has featured in the England U21 squad and played 3 games last season for the chelsea first team.

    What a shame.

Is there a reason why? Bad injury or just wrapped in?

Re-occurance of his knee injury which doctors have told have he won't recover from I think. Real shame for the lad.

Bad craic like, although the future still looks ok for him

At least he's going to study and stay in football maybe, if he chooses to. He's lucky the club continue to support him.

Just goes to show how fine the line is between making it and falling by the wayside.

Nick Hornby put it better than anyone in Fever Pitch with his Gus Ceasar story...

Best kid in his primary school for years

Best kid in the senior school by a mile

Best kid in the town team for years

Best kid in the Arsenal youth setup

Best prospect in the Arsenal reserves

A fair few first team games

But even then, even after he was the best of the best at every level he'd ever played at, he still wasn't good enough and it ended up going downhill...

This Chelsea lad was at the 'best kid in the youth setup stage' a while back and it must be soul destroying to never know if he was a Gus Ceasar or a Tony Adams
