    Default Mortgage Advice

Mortgage term is coming to an end soon

Lender is saying I will be able to instruct a solicitor to "discharge our legal charge on your property", or they can do this for me!

They are also saying they will be asking me to send them a payment to cover my Mortgage Account Fee, once the final instalment has been paid.

Have had a look through my original mortgage documents and can't find any mention of either of these.

Anyone advise me if this is standard procedure/charges ?

    Cheers.

Well done Marra. Life's ambition to get rid of the bastard.

    These do sound normal.

If it's not in writing mate, Boris has the well known phrase to use.

no idea what the account fee is, but if you want their charge on your property removed then you will have to pay. If you don't then it will just remain their until you try to sell it / re-mortgage it.

If their is a charge on the property it means it has been registered with Land Registry and their will not be any deeds.

Shirley it has to be noted on the Mortgage agreement/contract?

Thanks my friend......made the mistake of going down the endowment route a good few years back - bit the bullet & took out a much shorter term repayment some years later & then managed to pay a chunk off it a couple of years ago to get it more or less back on track with the original term.

Will be a relief when it's gone.

.....so if it's registered with the Land Registry and therefore no deeds - no real need to do more with it??

Cheers for the replies. Will have another look when I'm back in later.
