    Default The Barcelona Way...

How difficult would it be, for our academies to teach young players to produce football like the best club side in the world?

The EPL academies must surely now use the Barca. academy as a benchmark. I fear they won't though as the current EPL product sells and that’s based purely on size, pace, power and less on ability....

I would gladly pay £1000 for a season ticket, without question, if that was the product I was buying into...

English clubs find it hard to steal the best youngsters from South America and Spain so it'd be hard to emulate Barca

I can't imagine it to be that difficult to teach kids to dive at every opportunity and clutch your face, having a cheeky peek through your hands for the ref.

It's pretty hard to steal any youngster from South America or anywhere else these days, even for the Spanish.

Should we not start from stratch with our own kids. I'm sure given the right guidance they would be just as capable....

Teaching them the basics would do for starters. The amount of footballers that cannot grasp a basic pass n move is shocking.

Before that English clubs used Clairefontein and the Ajax Academy as the benchmark, and the model. It didn't do them much good. Following someone elses lead, and actually recreating what they do are completely different things.

These places have their own culture and philosophy that can't just be mimicked.

Look at the bigger picture mate....

Yes I agree, I don't want the cheating apsect of their game, but I'm actually on about the beautiful football they play.

most clubs would sack their academy staff if they didn't produce a couple of players after 18 months. Thank the lord we've had Sir Bob Murray and Niall Quinn to allow our academy to bear fruit and start to produce good players

theirs only a few clubs in england that seem to give their academy the chance to produce. We now seem to be one. But obviously Arsenal are the prime example, They just need a couple of experienced and physical players. If Arsenal had Puyol and Pique as their CBs i think they would have won the league this year
