    Default Keyhole Knee Surgery

    anyone had this?

I think I'll be getting it done through private care at work... how long can I expect to be in a cushy hospital private bed and how long off work being a cripple?

    What are you getting done?

My dad got it done a few weeks back. He got it done at that hospital at Washington. He was in and out the same day (just repaired a few tears and cleaned it). He was walking ok in a few days and is in his 60s.

    pants

I was hoping for a bit more time in a nice private room having my meals cooked

I'm not sure how much needs to be done but my knee is in constant pain and has been getting worse for a year so I think I may need a bit of work done.

    Had it done X 5:

    1. New ACL graft and attempt at cartilage suture
    2. Cartilage debridement
    3. Removal of hardware due to bursitis
    4. Cartilage debridement
    5. New ACL graft and cartilage debridement

In each case I was out of there in a matter of hours except the first one in which I was in overnight but out in less than 24 hours so it doesn't count as an admission.

Had that done with spinal anaesthetic and watched the fibre-optic pics during the op (dead hard me) - and was out the same day. Played footy again in 5 weeks.

This is actually quite good news as I'm signed up for a soccer tourny and a run in a few weeks so I could still do them.

Had it done a while back for torn cartilage.

As already stated you'll be an outpatient and basically in and out within hours.
They will be expecting you to walk on it almost immediately.

However for the following two weeks you'll be expected to keep it elevated to prevent any swelling etc. And you certainly shouldn't be driving during that time unless it's your left leg and you drive an automatic.

    Piece of piss

    Wouldn't dare.

If someone's gonna be operating on me, they'll have to be in the same room as me thank you very much.

It all depends on what is being done. 'keyhole' just describes the method of entry.
