    I saw a pic in one of todays papers, showing a distraught jockey hugging a horse (cant remember the name)that was going to be put down due to a broken leg.
    The horse was still standing on all fours. Surely they could treat such an injury. Why destroy the animal?

    During the first few years of the recession stables were putting down racehorses every day due to the cost of keeping them. Magnificant animals.

    Just like Greyhound though ,if you cant race them ,there just eating machines no point in keeping them.

    Horses are heavy & their legs are fine so bad fractures usually mean a death sentence.
    Fractures that are not too severe are treatable but a race horse with any fracture is finished as a racer. So they just destroy it, it's cheaper for the owner.

    That's not actually true though is it. You can't stabilise a horse to allow the break to mend.
