    Default SMBcc Season.

    Alright lads.

Just a quick fill-in on the 2 leagues we've been playing in:

    Felling League

RWE have won this, again, but we're sitting in joint 2nd at the moment. Our game on the 17th vs Engineers is now a "double header" whereby the winner goes into the Final and gets the 2 league points. We've one outstanding game in this vs CES (formally EAGA) after rain put paid to it at Gosforth. And then there is the matter of the game from Monday. Although the games could be re-arranged it would be a week at least before they're played and it's already getting darker earlier so I am going to propose that those 2 games are declared draws. It's either that or 16 overs a side which isn't ideal.

    Vic Halom League

Where to start? We're bottom. With 1 point. From a tied game! The Knights look likely champions with 5 wins from 7 games. We've 2 outstanding games - vs Brandon and RWE but both have been given dates of possible games. Just waiting on hearing back.

    Friendlies

We've only played the 2 friendlies this season - Durham Uni and NAS. Winning one and losing one.

    2012 season

Which route would everyone prefer to go down next season? I'm happy to enter us into the 2 leagues again, but as noted we've only played 2 friendlies as a result. Would people prefer the "competition" of the leagues or do people prefer just playing with no 'pressure' of winning? I'd say enter the 2 leagues and try and get more friendlies played. Is there plans afoot for another tour? Thoughts/Suggestions welcome...

    Yes.

It would help if I had my fixture list next to me when I type stuff like this out!

Do you have dates agreed for your other 2 games?

Knights wanted to play next Thursday but we have SMB. KJ on Monday but we have our 15s at home (have offered to go down there if they want ) am waiting for them to get back again

For the record our lads have loved it and will defiantly be back next year. Played at a fair standard and in a great spirit and well administrated. We put a couple of proper cricketers in but mainly it's bar lads and kids. ( young VOR has an average of 132 as he has only been out once anarl )

I definitely think we should stay in the Felling League. Some on here seem to be a bit snobby (for want of a better word) bit it makes it a real team game.

Re the 16 over option for this month I don't think it's that bad an option like - not better than no game?

And let's win this semi and retain the cup 8)

Game from Monday has been declared a draw.

Who has been snobby like Tom? Personally think it's a great league to be in bearing in mind the lads we often have play. E.g. those who want to try it - Dale and Scott and those who only play occassionally - Dave and me.

Ted, I've sent an email out with all the info on. If you've got the dates then great!

I said 'for want of a better word' cos snobby makes it sound like people have been arsey about it when they haven't. What I mean is that it's the lowest standard of cricket we play and some seem to prefer the VH thing which is fair enough.

Another good thing is that we get to play at Felling which is a mint little ground.

I think it's the fact the everyone has to bowl two overs. That seems to be the sticking point for people as not everyone likes bowling. And the retirements on 25.

I still think it's a good league and unless the majority say otherwise, I'll be entering us into it again.

I think the felling league is a great league for those starting out and wanting to get into cricket. My only problem with it has been the 2 over thing. Mainly because i'm shite at bowling and therefore hate it!!

I haven't played that many games this season mainly due to work commitments so can't really say how hard its been for us to get teams out. I suppose as long as we can get teams out then go for it.
