    Default Cattermole

Am I the only one who thinks he is shite??
He gets booked far too often because he makes stupid mistimed tackles and can't pass a ball more than 3 yards and struggles to do that as well. After being booked today he offered nothing and it was like playing with 10 men. He didn't look for the ball and was shown up by Zenden who let's be honest is a 37 year old has-been who can still do a job because he used to be class. The fact that Bruce rates clattermole so highly that he has made him captain as he "..epitomises everything likes in a footballer" is very worrying.

I absolutely agree with you. Just because he is captain does'nt change the fact that he is a poor player .
There was great anticipation about getting him back after injury but most of it is being shown to be soppy "absence makes the heart grow fonder" stuff. He is undisciplined, unprofessional, one of the worst passers of the ball you are likely to see at this level and surely cannot command the respect of the more skilled and effective players in the squad .Appointing him was a bad decision by Bruce.
However he is our captain and therefore he gets our support for now and we must hope that he can lead the team well enough to avoid the drop.

I swear he fucks up his first touch on purpose so he can follow it up with a sliding tackle.

    Just about nail on head.
I wouldn't go as far to say he does it on purpose, but a lot of his wild tackles come from a very poor first touch which results in him having to lunge in to retrieve a ball he should have had in the first place.

His tackles are largely needless and just attract stupid bookings

I couldn't believe a few on the radio saying he played well. He was appalling.

Lucky not to be booked earlier and then when he was booked for a ridiculous challenge he actually kicked the ball away as well.

Afterwards he didn't dare tackle so he was rendered absolutely pointless.

He also regularly failed to show for the ball in the first-half. I don't think he was hiding, I think he just doesn't read the game.

    Thick as fuck. Useless.

I wonder if this result is a "blessing in disguise" as well.

Lacking match fitness and he's not the only one. Bruce really doers need to look at getting shot of the more injury prone members of our squad.

    Really?

I recall him getting two reds earlier in the season for doing the same fuck ups
