    Default Tianio

Any particular reason he is being treat like a leper?

The choice to replace Cattermole v West Brom would seem to be between Colback and Zenden.

    I think I'd prefer Tainio.

Yes I know he is injury prone, but he is still a good player, he will be on a fortune so what is the point in freezing him out completely?

His injury record in his first season here was similar to Cattermole's in his first. In fact is a little better than it looks, since once he lost his place there were several games where he was available but didn't get back in.

Its a bit of a similar story last season as well, he got an injury early on but because Birmingham did so well he was out of the picture when he recovered.

We may as well use him, he's still one of the best midfielders at the club, plays in the Cattermole style but with more ability on the ball and less cards.

He isn't mobile, quick, or strong enough for Bruce. No where near. A good choice by the gaffer.

Unless there's something gone on behind the scenes we don't know about. I wonder if there's a clause close to being triggered where we have to pay Spurs more money.

I tend to agree. I think what goes against him is his unwillingness to play with any kind of knock (or his perceived unwillingness). I remember Sbragia almost pleading with him via the press at one stage of the relegation battle he oversaw. And saw myself other players rolling their eyes when Tainio immediately pulled out of training after a slight bump in a practice mate (back in the days when you could watch training). That machismo will probably never leave the game (and rightly so) and selfish soft lads won't win the trust of old school battles like Bruce.

A shame like you say, he's always done pretty well whenever I've seen him.

I think he's been treated fairly shabbily to be honest. Yes he's been very injury prone but we could do with someone to put their foot in and keep the ball.

Yet he signed Riveros who didn't look like any of the above during the World Cup?

I forgot about Riveros and misspelled Tainio, but other than that I'm on a winner.

Seriously though even allowing for Riveros I don't see why he is being treat like such an outcast.

And he is at least as mobile and quick as Cattermole.

He's no less creative than Cattermole or Cana (last season) that's for sure. Colback I've no idea about and bar the odd wondergoal, Zenden's legs have gone.

As the OP says it does seem odd to treat the people Bruce doesn't rate like lepers though, not giving them numbers and banishing them is a) not a nice way to treat people and b) risky given that we may not sell them in the end.

A bit of common courtesy wouldn't go amiss imo.

But maybe I'm just a big soft fanny.
