Today's Game
Thought our central midfield didnt track back or pick-up when we lost possession. Costing us the first goal. The space Petrov had was pathetic.
Thought Richardson was excellent at full-back. Would like to see both full-backs bombing down the wing.
Thought Wickham took his goal very well, from a brilliant through ball. The kid needs a run in the team. Both forwards looked decent.
Thought Meyler needs a few games to get match fit, a bit slow today, think he will compliment Vaughn when he gets in the groove.
Thought Westwoods save from Bent was phenomenal. Not many deny Bent from that position.
Don't think O'Shea is a full-back would rather see him with Brown at centre-half.
That is all.

So how did Hutton have quarter of the field to himself, enabling him to carry the ball forward unchallenged 20 yards, then roll it to the likewise unmarked Modric?
Where was our 'excellent left back', just popped off for a cup of tea?

Agree with most of that but thought O'Shea was having a canny game till he went off.
I would play Meyler at OT, he's not going to get match fit otherwise.

..... defending nzogbia where he should have been? the reason hutton was so open was that we played 4-4-2 with a left winger who was playing all over the pitch. thought sessegnon played very well today but he was often caught nowhere to be seen when villa came up the pitch, they played on the break alot which cost us when we lost possession with sess in the middle of the park or on the right wing...

richardson has had so many poor games for us, and so many false dawns i can excuse anyone for calling him a shitebag, but he had a fairly decent game today, looked very promising at times but wasted possession a few times too.
he seems pretty steady recently with flashes of great but still has those attrocious simple passes going astray or attempted crosses/shots ballooning out of play

Did you have your eyes closed??
Hutton did not go forward 20 yards with the ball , it was a very deep cross that he laid off to Petrov. if in fact it was Hutton , not sure .
When did Modric sign for Villa ?, I thought the window was closed.

a player is only as good as he's playing and for me Richardson has been playing well for the last few games, much better than O'Shea for example who seems to be the weak link in our defence he certainly doesn't look like a champions league playing right back

Spot on - better teams would of destroyed us with that amount of space. This is a situation that will be exploited in future games, but for how long have we needed a decent left winger.

Hutton was Sess's man, he completely left Hutton which led directly to the goal. Unless you expect Richardson to mark N'Zogbia and Hutton
