    Default The Beatles on iTunes

Sound quality worse than CD, no packaging, no transport costs, no retail costs, yet more expensive than CD: 99p per song, £10.99 per album, £17.99 per double album.

    How does that work?

Probably a clear sign that less and less people want or buy CD's. I packed all mine away years ago, never to be seen again.

I sold most of mine on Amazon, including all my Beatles CDs.

(Fortunately I ripped everything onto mp3, so I've never had to resort to iTunes to rebuy stuff i'd already bought.)

You can download lossless from iTunes, so sound quality isn't worse.

After that, it's market forces. People don't want CDs, and you need to sell fewer downloads for the same profit.

The price is absurd of course, but that's capitalism. Or moreover, that's capitalism in a market where the majority of people steal the product. Paid-for downloads is a bit like car insurance, in that the law abiding subsidise the criminal.

Really is daft, but a lot of people tend to have more money than sense.

    Just an idea....

have one one of them ol' turn-table things that spin 33/45rpm..

drop a bit of vinyl under a needle...

tune in.....drop out.. listen the way it was recorded.

Always sounds canny but a bugga when you you need 1000 tunes on the move....them ol' speakers can be a tad heavy!!

I have Revolver on vinyl, never heard it any other way and it's still my favourite Beatles album by a mile.

but does somewhat contradict the music industry's agruement over why CD's cost so much
