Default Oh Crap Why did I look this up

After seeing Steve Cotterill's appointment at forest I decided to look up his wiki page. I then came to the section where it shows overall win percentage. It got me thinking I wonder which manager in the premier league has the best career win percentage regardless of league, club etc. So I thought I would make it into a table. I wish I hadn't. I was actually a supporter of Bruce before I did this. Now, not so much

    1 Andre Villas-Boas 67%
    2 Sir Alex Ferguson 57.82%
    3 Roberto Mancini 55.09%
    4 Kenny Dalglish 54.68%
    5 Arsene Wenger 53.28%
    6 Martin Jol 49.69%
    7 Alex McLeish 47.37%
    8 David Moyes 44.01%
    9 Owen Coyle 43.82%
    10 Alan Pardew 43.32%
    11 Paul Lambert 43.3%
12 Roy Hodgson 43.08% - Amazing when you consider how many jobs he's had.
    13 Harry Redknapp 40.39%
    14 Mick McCarthy 40.28%
    15 Neil Warnock 39.56%
    16 Brendan Rodgers 39.17%
    17 Roberto Martinez 37.63%
    18 Tony Pulis 37.41%
    19 Steve Bruce 36.74%
    20 Steve Kean 21.43% - Silver Lining

03:51 PM.. Reason: I made a boo boo.

Seems fair, comparing wins in any league whatsoever and making a table out of it

I'm not a SB supporter, bur if SB had the team some of those other guys had, he'd have a higher winning % too. Not saying he'd be SAF, but his winning % would be higher.

It would be a fair comparison if all the stats related to the PL, I have an idea that a fair few above SB have had many more games in the Championship etc.

Correct, I think Roberto Mancini would have a worst win percentage than quite a few managers had he not managed Fiorentina,Lazio,Internaz ionale,Manchester City.

With regards to what GK said I don't see what's wrong with comparing

    Owen Coyle
    Steve Bruce
    Roy Hodgson
    Roberto Martinez
    David Moyes
    Mick McCarthy
    Alex McLeish
    Alan Pardew
    Tony Pulis
    Harry Redknapp

They have all had similar careers managerially speaking. Obviously some of the managers who's are new to the premier league will have a inflated win ratio. But I see nothing wrong with comparing Steve Bruce to the names names I have mentioned above. These are the men Steve Bruce should be measured against.

There are many questions to ask about the table . Does this make Boas a better manager than Sir Alex ? Owen Coyle has barely started his career and has lost his last five games , Rodgers , Martinez , Lambert are very new to the game .The difference between 10th place and Steve Bruce is minimal perhaps a couple of wins difference .
Dont let misleading stats change your support for Steve Bruce . At the end of the year Iam sure we will continue to progress in terms of league posistion and I would suggest that managers 20 , 9 14 , 15 , 16 and 17 will be in a relegation scrap.
