Default PC techies... app for killing processes

About 10 years ago I used to have a program for Win 98 that allowed me to view / stop / kill background processes and prevent them starting up again.

It was basically a Task Manager replacement but you could store profiles on it to kill all unneccessary processes in one go.

It was really useful for when I wanted to maximise my processing power by temporarily stopping everything I didn't need to be running by simply pressing a single button (after setting it up initially so that it had the profile stored and ready).

Trying to find it (or something like it) for XP but I can't remember what it was called and can't find anything that does it all so quickly and easily.

    Any ideas?

edit: never mind... I just remembered it's called End It All.

Is it still the best app for the job or is there a better one now?

I don't know of one that does profiles, but you should get a copy of the Sysinternals suite. That has all sorts of process and other tools from the legendary Mark Russanovich, and is generally considered indispensable.

It's worth having for it's Process Explorer (task manager's big brother on steroids with attitiude) alone:

"End It All" might be useful for Sunday afternoon if things don't go well though!

There's also Mike Lin's Startup which lets you stop processes from starting on boot etc...
