    Default The Futures looks bright

I have just read the thread on the summer clear out that we are going to have and am impressed with the comments from Bruce & SNQ

Everything i read about the club at the moment fills me with confidence. We seem to be a very settled and well run club. Financial backing in the short term and looking to become self sufficient in the long term.

Unless you have a Russian / Middle East billionaire willing to throw 700M at you your not going to become an overnight success and spending money you don't really have in order to achieve greatness, is backfiring on teams around the country at every level. It would take a few years of building for us to break into the "also rans" but if we are heading in the same direction as the Everton's & Aston Villas of this world (although a few years behind maybe), then i for one feel very content.

Agreed that it looks positive but we're heavily indebted to Niall for putting together the Drumaville deal and then for finding Ellis Short.
It's fantastic that Short wants to have a bit of fun with us to the tune of tens of millions of pounds a year but we need to move to a self-sustaining model before he either gets bored or his cash runs out.
It's a difficult one for Niall because I don't see a lot more ticket revenue being available. As it is, we discount heavily for home cup ties and I reckon it would be the same if we were in the Europa League. It'll be interesting to see if Fulham made anything at all out of their run to the final last season ..

I'm a bit curious, are all the players named in the clear out at the end of their contracts, if so they can be released, but if they're still under contract somebody's got to want them. Somehow I think a few of them are still going to be on the wage bill well into next season. Hope I'm wrong like, but wanting rid of them and getting rid of them is two different things.

All under contract but for-sale... there are two or three I can see us failing to shift or loaning out again.

No i was born here the rest of the family are exiles and all the extended family are still in the mother land. "Jersey Bob", sometimes go and see him when he has a gig on also see him busking round town quite often too. The summer will still be going strong when you get here mate so you'll have no problems surfing & partying!
