Our lack of striker options
Brucesy in todays Northern Echo " You can sometimes find something in adversity and Ryan Noble came on for the final 15 minutes last week and did fantastically. But the biggest weapon available to manager is competition and I haven't got any. Even if we detect they are running on empty we can't do anything about it "

No doubt that we are in the mire when it comes to striking options, but with DW and FC to come back in the next few weeks I think it was a gamble worth taking when Bruce/Quinn/Walton decided against paying over the odds for a striker after Queer left. I would have been gutted to see us spend £10-15M on someone like Pavlyuchenko. Better to keep our powder dry and look again in the summer.
