Re: are spain boring??
Not last night, shame the Italians went down to ten men though, was a cracking game before that.

One game doesn't gloss over the fact that all the other others were instantly forgettable, or the last World Cup.

One performance in the final (fair enough, they turned on the style) does not gloss over the fact that throughout this tournament they have been boring, slow and more concerned with leaving a legacy of statistics and percentages than being a great attacking football team. Only Spain could go from a corner to your own goalkeeper in three passes.

They were excellent last night though and deserved to win the game. Well done to them for winning Euro 2012, it worked the way they played but I found it boring in at least 3 games I watched them.
3 shots on target in 120 mins vs Portugal.

Compared to zero from Portugal!
I think Spain looked pretty boring in some of those games but nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be

We're on about Spain, not Portugal.
Well done to them but some of the games I watched them play, they were awful to watch. Tippy tappy football does very little for me, the way they were at it in some games. The SAFC vs Swansea game was torture earlier in the season, yet so many people applauded the Swansea style last season.
Last night though Spain were excellent as I've said.

I agree they have been dull at times but IMO that is mainly down to Villa not being fit, with him in the side they are so much better.

I'd say they were more concerned with leaving a legacy of being the only international team to have consequently won three international tournaments, and they managed that.
Football at that level is all about the winning, and they have that locked the fuck down.

To a certain extent but they weren't very exciting when the won the WC. They tend to 'do just enough'. Last night felt like they had a point to prove as they had been labelled boring. There are very few occasions when Spain could be descibed as thrilling, as, for example, Germany were in the last WC when they dismantled a very good Argentina side. To me Spain are the most effective side ever but a long way from the most entertaining side.

Having said that, I have always played midfield and it is incredible to watch how their players keep possession and play ball round the opposition in the tightest of areas. They are often just one-touch, five yard passes but they pass the ball with the exact weight and tempo to allow them to evade opposition. They aren't scared of the ball or intimidated if people are nearby.
Compare it to how we play. Ball goes back to keeper or centre back and only thought is to launch it long, making it 50-50 at best and conceding possession. If you have the ball, the opposition can score. We praise players like the overrated "Scotty" Parker or Cattermole but the reason they do so much battling and tackling is because they give the ball away too easily when they win it.

This.
For them passing is an art and when the moves come to fruition they are a joy to watch. Football at it's purest.
I also like the blood and thunder approach - when 2 sides are up for it - but watching spain is like watching another game.
What must be boring though is if you don't like them for whatever reason, then they are boringly predictable - as you know they're going to win.
as I posted before - boring (and angrily frustrating ) is watching the 30 mins of extra time England vs Italy - and us not even getting a touch.
I dread to think what would happen to England if they had to play Spain with them in a bad mood.
