    Default Our pitch

If you compare our pitch with other clubs in the top flight it really is poor - especially when you consider that there is no other sport played on it and no European football (and rarely even domestic cup football).

Whilst I'm not blaming todays performance on the pitch, I cant help but think it may have played into Boro's hands a little given they have probably played a lot more football on similarly poor pitches in the Championship.

Why do they continue to water it even when raining and why is it so poor?

It's the middle of winter - no sunlight - worst time for grass. At least today there wasn't the litter swirling around.

apart from that the game was quite interesting - typical cup-tie. Never expected boro to lie down and die - especially after scoring against the run of play with their first shot.

Its the middle of winter everywhere but other top flight teams seem to have better pitches.

Smart move by successive management teams to avoid that European football. Thinking about the state of the pitch makes me shudder.

Agree never seems to improve, when it comes to your point about the sprinklers. Over here they are on a timer due to the lack of rain, but they come on far too often for me.....the grass as a result is totally fucked.

I noticed today just before kick off they were sprinkling the pitch and it was raining at the time. It certainly doesnt help McClean and Sessegnon when they are trying to run with the ball and its either bobbling up or sticking in the pitch and its probably tiring the limbs more than usual. Bit of a hindrance when there are several fixtures coming up in close succession

Yeah - but it's the north east - always wet and damp.
