Default changing your name by deed poll

Anyone done this? My son wants to add a middle name to his name and wants to do it properly, anyone know how much solicitors charge to do it? I've emailed a few solicitors already but had no reply

there's plenty of sites offering it, but not such which ones are reputable, and I think he wants to make a bit of an event of it. His best friend died a few years ago and he wants his name as his middle name (Daniel), he's spoke to the lads mam and she's going to be the witness for it too.

You can do it for £20 on the internet. Legal as you like. Use to live with a lad while at Uni who had a very individual name due to his dad being welsh, the only person i've ever met with that name. Until one of our housemates got pissed and decided to change his name to the lad with the welsh name.

Ended up changing it back in the end, for another 20 dabs after his mother kicked off.

Nice to hear. All the people I've known who have done this or something similar have added ridiculous names. It's good to see a genuinely positive reason for doing something like this.

this. as long as the deed is worded and signed in both names and then witnessed it is perfectly legal.

Thanks for that, I'm very proud of him.

Has anyone used any of the websites?

Fair play to the lad for that.

I was ready to make a flippant comment about why you would want to change your name but that really is quite a touching thing for him to do. Yes, you should be very proud of him. Good lad.
