It's mint being a Sunderland fan.
I won't list all the reasons but seeing a great stadium full, top class players on the pitch, a big chequebook sitting in the diector's box and an absence of 'Gallant little Sunderland lose out to Man Utd,' headlines made it a confirmation of our progress.

We all know we have a way to go but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and there's been times when we couldn't even see the tunnel. It'll be interesting to see how the young Sunderland fans, who will grow up in the Premier League expecting to beat the top sides, behave in the future.

Perhaps they'll help to banish the 'doomed to fail' cloud that's hung over a great club for far too long. We all laugh at the ludicrous arrogance of Newcastle fans but perhaps we actually need a bit of that ourselves. Perhaps we shouldn't allow the players to believe that we'll accept anything but the same commitment we have.

I think a change is coming.
