Eye ointment

I was given some eye ointment the other day to treat an infection, and its the most annoying thing I've ever tried to 'administer'.

The instructions say you just peel back your eye lid, squeeze in a cm or so of the stuff and close the eye lid. What they dont tell you is that the stuff curls out of the tube rather than in a straight line, and that its almost impossible to disconnect the stuff from the dispensing tube, and that it wont stay in your eye anyway and just works its way out. I'm so frustrated.

Anyone got any SMB wisdom as to how they apply this stuff??
