    Default Middlesbrough Music Live

Not going to happen this year due to a combination of the cuts, and the jubilee and olympics being on apparently (more the former I'd say).

Shame really as was always a canny day out and saw plenty of decent bands there over the years. Only cost something like £100k to put on, seems a bit ridiculous that it's gone for such a low figure, but that's the World we're living in these days I guess.

The Chapman Family had a good rant about this on their Facebook page today.

    Quote:
Middlesbrough Music Live / Intro Festival "postponed" for a year as there's "a lot going on with the [London] Olympics and the [London] Diamond Jubilee". Cheers Seb Coe. Cheers HRH. You pair of utter doyles. I hope London enjoys it's firework display(s).

Everyone who moaned about having to pay an entrance fee last year to Intro last year you've finally got what you wanted, well done all - enjoy you're few hours of feeling smug and proud that you've saved your council a whopping total of £195,000. ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. Rejoice in the fact that there'll be an "Olympic Torch Relay evening event" through the beautiful streets of Middlesbrough which "will also feature music." Imagine what wonderous music that will be? Just imagine. Council backed Olympic fun. HUZZAH. Heaven forbid that some of the people of Teesside may have actually enjoyed the festival last year. HEAVEN FORBID.

Oh but it used to be free entry and we used to be able to take shopping bags full of our own booze into the festival site to watch Ocean Colour Scene by the Bottle of Notes blah blah blah. Yeah and it also went from one of the most violent and intimidating puke lined urban music festivals I've ever been to in my life to one of the best. If you have to pay a fee not to feel like you're going to get your head kicked in at every corner then I'm personally OK with that. Glastonbury was free too once you know.

Our world gets greyer and greyer everyday, someone carrying a shitty little Olympic torch staggering down Linthorpe Road in the rain isn't going to change that.
Sad to see a local(ish) festival disappear.

I'd be amazed if MML comes back tbh, the writing was on the wall last year when they started charging.

It won't be back. This is a perfect excuse just to not spend the money and then nobody will be expecting it next year.

Bag of shite reason as its a good day out.

    Not sure about that.

I know it lost a lot of custom as the match was on. Only made it on the Sunday, but what a cracking day out and on our doorstep. With the team behind it, it could be something really big, but its going to need the councils backing big style.
