Angry Why does Match of the Day...

...dub commentary on afterwards and have them pretend that it's being done live?

Every week the commentator spoils highlights by making some correct hint 30 seconds before a goal, and hearing the commentator pretend to be shocked at the Nani incident then was cringeworthy.

They don't. They have commentators at the games

It's dreadful. It doesn't seem to be every game but it seems like it's getting more common.

If they ever say something like "And <Player name> hasn't scored for 5 games, will that change today?" you already know the bastard scores

Watch the Nani incident today again on iPlayer.

    "A free kick, surely"

Just before Nani nips back and scores. Not a chance was that done live.

The worst is on the football league show and several other highlight shows where they dont even pretend to have commentators at the games! You get "Leeds continued their revival with a win here today, although it looked far from certain when this goal [show goal] was scored against them early on". Fucking hate that, i like to watch highlights not knowing the scores if possible, so being told before a move finishes whether it is going in or not pisses me right off- give me dubbed commentary over that any day of the week!

you are aware that the scores are broadcast nationally on dozens of tv and radio stations hours before this programme airs, aren't you?

A friend of mine works on MotD.

It is entirely up to the commentators (who record live) if they'd like to rerecord. Sometimes it's reasonable (because the edit they're using would come in half way through the commentator saying something, sometimes the commentator wants to sound insightful.

This is what pisses me off. It's obvious and irritating.

of course i am, but i dont particularly look out for the CCC, league 1 and league 2 scores and by the time the highlights are on, i have forgotten what most of the lower league scores were, as most people probably do. I would rather watch the highlights not being told the fucking scores as they go along, since i generally either havent seen, or dont remember, every single score on a saturday afternoon

Equally with fa cup highlights, sometimes people deliberately avoid finding out the scores so they can watch the highlights later without knowing the score, then some bint comes on and says "lincoln put up a good fight before crashing out in this one", fucking annoying as fuck. The scores might be broadcast earlier, but that doesnt mean they should assume everyone knows the scores- if that was okay, why not just have linekar saying "first up we'll show you highlights of man uniteds win at home to spurs"- people would complain if they did that and rightly so, because regardless of scores being broadcast earlier, they dont want it mentioned in the highlight program
