    Default John Carew

Bruce wants him on a free according to the Mirror.

Okay if its instead of Bothroyd, wouldn't want them both

Can't see it myself like. We didn't bother fighting over him when he went to Stoke, makes even less sense now.

No no no no no no no

    Why would we sign him?

Bad move if true, would rather have Boothroyd

We should have signed him in January rather than now.

He's a good target man, still blows hot and cold, but he's got constant back problems IIRC - exactly what we need then

    We couldn't.

We would have had to ditch another loan player (Or mebes bought one? Onhua?).
Otherwise we would have had to buy him outright, and they wanted a fair bit for him.

(Unless you mean using bargaining power, in the Bent deal).
Well there was still more than meets the eye about that, gotta be.
The speed it went thruogh was unreal, and we wouldn't have had time to ask Carew up to the SOL.

Very strange deal, I'll tell ye.

I meant buy him mate, as you say, by using the leverage. It is a strange one alright. I was reading a piece the other day in which Stoke claimed they held his registration, Villa said they did and Carew and his agent said they had no idea who did.
