    Default New guitar...

Ok, so I'm buying a new guitar, I've kind of narrowed it down to two...

    Washburn wi66 pro

    Ibanez ART320

however I've been looking at two others in the meantime...

    Michael Kelly Patriot custom

    Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet

anyone got any thoughts on the ideal choice, although I am thinking very hard about the ibanez, this seems to be the best choice overall...

Pro Jet every time for me but that's probably because I have a natural dislike of all things Ibanez and Washburn. Pro Jet is terrific value for the quality when you compare it to the full priced Duo Jet.

So what does it play like, what do you like about it...?

Very versatile guitar mate. I play all sorts of stuff ranging from Pink Floyd (sorting a tribute band at minute) to classic rock and up to trashy pop punk from time to time. I have owned a genuine vintage duo jet in my time but had to sell it a while back. Now spend me money on decent strats and teles so couldn't justify another expensive Gretsch. Went for the pro jet and never looked back. Played fine out the box with a few minor tweaks and sounds great through me Hiwatt.

I think Gretsch's probably hold their value very well. Quite unique sound too.

Here`s a little tip! I know it might appear a bit silly
But why not buy the one that sounds the best and plays well..

I've got a couple of Ibanez guitars. I bought one new (£450) 10 years back and after a year the volume pot started to crackle and the output socket was dodgy (me volume dropped here and there and had to wiggle the lead). Same with the 2nd hand one I bought.
Another thing with them is that the volume pot is too close (for my style) to the strings, so I was always turning the bastard down.
I'm guessing that the higher priced ones would come with better parts
