What extra can you do with 3G on your phone....
is it true that you can only recive picture messages with 3G?

If you are comparing an 8520 and a bold 9700 then go for the Bold as it has 3G. Makes receiving data much quicker.

I have found the data rate on the 8520 to be very good and you can get much betters deals for the 8520.

I am just going off being out with my mate with an 8520 - seems much slower for tweets, score mobile app and emails. Can be down to network/location etc. It is true it is miles cheaper.

The new Pearl is 3G and about the same price as the 8520. Same processor and camera, and roughly the same screen resolution, as the 9700 IIRC, just with a numeric keypad instead of a Qwerty.

3G makes data much quicker, so it's far superior for things like YouTube (although I don't think that works properly on any BlackBerry anyway), and it allows for video calling (which very few phones still bother with, because it was shit*)

Enabling 3G mode makes my Storm lose signal. I have to have it on 2G/EDGE or the "2G and 3G" option. Serves me right for getting the worst BlackBerry ever made

Whenever I use a Storm 2 I think I've broke the screen. Weird little thing.
