The gates disappeared between 5.15pm on Tuesday, April 19, and 2pm on Wednesday, April 20, at West Pastures in West Boldon. Copper cable was also stolen at about 8pm on May 8.
The black gates are 20ft wide and 6ft high with gold swirls on the bars and a gold central scrolls design.
Two men, aged 36 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed, pending further inquiries.
