Default expedia - a rip off?

i noirmally dont use them however i have tried today due to flights being extortionate to new york

they seem to have developed a ploy that makes ryanair look up front

you confirm your flight and hotel package , then as you submit your credit card details it egg times, then goes bacjk and says the price has changed (30 quid more) so i agreed , pressed submit , it then egg times as if to take payment then says the price has changed again (20 seconds gap), now adds on 150 quid to original quote

emaile them and they just say its a live environment but i think its a scam personally

tried it again under different email address and same thing happened

I think you might be right.

I find Opodo much better, or even NetFlights (even if they do sponsor Leeds).

i used expedia a few years ago no problems but this seems a deliberate ploy

whats worse is that the likes of skyscanner have expedia listed as cheapest flights (even cheaper still) but they arent

skyscanner is usually canny so thats a shame

Aye I always used Opodo over Expedia. Found them cheaper and the site is better too.

Can get cash back via quidco too.

I don't think a business would risk damaging it's brand name that it has built up for a cheap scam that would quickly piss punters off.

If those changes have happened then they need to sort their software out because if that happened on a regular basis they would lose a load of business.

It has happened when I have booked but the differences were minimal.

Yes I have totally noticed Expedia's prices jump once you start looking at a particular venue or going thru the booking process as you describe. Another thing that annoys me about them is that if you look at any given city - lets say NY, then a few days later you get an email saying "fancy a trip to NY" etc etc and a lot of NY adverts appear on other websites as adverts.

i agree and as i said ive used in past no probs

i was quite shocked at this new mechanism and dont see how it s gonna work

who would accept jumps of 150 quid in price right at the last stage of booking ?
