Default Anybody else getting a bit bored of Steed Malbranque?

Great little footballer and very good close control, but he actually brings very little to Sunderland. When one on one with Schwarzer it was glaringly obvious that he wasn't going to score. I rated him very highly and would usually be the first on the teamsheet for me, but he rarely does anything of note, other than the odd rare assist.

Admittedly we've had players who were far more limited but seemed to produce more

Gray and Summerbee for a couple

In fairness didn't he have a good number in the assists column last season?

I'll get slated for this but I was pretty pissed off that he managed to find about 20% more effort when playing against his old team yesterday. He hasn't given anywhere near his best for Sunderland. He is getting older and won't get any better - get rid

6 last season, Fraizer Campbell also had 6 assists.

I love the bloke, but he's becoming a bit of a luxury player.

He'd still be the first name on the teamsheet for me. Yes, he missed a good chance yesterday and it's hard to believe he was Fulham's joint top Premier League goalscorer till Wednesday, but I think he continues to be impressive. I find it most odd that he should be singled out for criticism on here.
It is another indictment of Bruce that for much of our latest rotten run he hardly played Steed.

He has 4 this season, only Gyan has more.

We play better football with him in the team. We may not score more but at least it's better to watch

No he's not the worst, not a chance, and he puts in more effort than every other player, bar Bardsley. But everytime he has the ball you know he'll skin someone, then do nothing with it.

So 10 assists in about 70 games? and zero goals in the last two seasons. Not too clever is it?
