    Default Tyre Pressure

My lass has just brought a car and it has some alloys on (not factory fitted). The tyres are 205/40 ZR17 84W - anybody have any idea what sort of pressure the tyres should be?? Cheers!!

32psi? Just a wild stab in the dark, seems about right like.

    30psi - 32psi I'd guess at.

Check the inside of one of the door posts, there may be a sticker showing tyre pressures. See if the tyre sizes match up.

check the handbook, it has nothing really to do with the tyre/wheel size, it's more about the weight on each corner. It's fairly important, cos either too low/too high will impact on grip, and too low will fuck your fuel economy and stress the tyre a bit too much.

I would have thought the pressure is for the tyres no matter what size the rims are.
So if the factory sticker says 32 for the front and 34 for the back it will be the same whether you have 15 inch 16 inch or even Carlos Fandango total utter bastards on.
    It's just a guess though.

If you can't be arsed to research is neither can I.

dont go for the "stab in the dark". correct tyre pressures will make your tyres wear evenly and above all is safe. so find out the correct pressire in the handbook.

    Better crack on here!!

Wasn't sure if you'd go off what was on the door frame as the alloys are 17" and I would imagine the standard wheels for the car would be either 14 or 15"
