STOP, calm down, and think about things objectively...
I am as big a Kenwyne Jones fan as anyone, but this is simply his time to move on. Yes he can be a handful, but he can also be a right frustrating sod and entirely ineffective. Lets not forget that of the three seasons he was here, two of them were a relegation battle. For the whole three years he has been here we have been blighted with inconsistency and wretched away form. Now I am not suggesting that Jones was the reason for those things, but the fact remains that it is those things that we are trying to move on from. So let the manager manage and do what he believes is necessary to do that. It's what we pay him for.
It feels like a kick in the teeth, probably because we are not used to selling players like this, but if the manager doesn't think he can get the best out of Jones then he is better off armed with the money to get a player he does want and believes in. If that's "only" Danny Welbeck then so be it. He's a good young player and rated by Fergie, and a similar arrangement worked out very wekk with Johnny Evans, who was also a nobody back then.
I am not exactly enamoured with our summer or what I see as a dreadfully illprepared squad for the start of the season, but there is no need to hoy our toys out of our prams over Jones leaving. His time here has not been glorious and neither has he been some kind of Phillips or Bent style talisman. This deal lets us move on and hopefully upwards, and is hopefully the prelude to a new arrival or two that will be of more benefit to SAFC than Jones in the long term.
Lets at least wait to see the wider picture here before judging.

We going into our forth season in the top flight mate, the signing or wellbeck and evans just isnt the same at all. This summer has been a bit of a let down so far like.

Wise words and of course the club is bigger than any individual,but the concern of many is that we appear to be getting only £7 million for the player which is,objectively, far too low a figure.
Couple that with the manager's obsession with centre backs none of whom can apparently defend a corner and one might be right to be a tad concerned.

I agree, but it's not over yet. Also worth remembering that with the new 25-man squad rule, coupled with the "oh shit!!!!!!" factor of Portsmouth, this is no ordinary summer transfer window and we probably shouldn't expect it to be.
I am dissapointed with our business this summer, but not especially about losing Jones. Contrary to popular belief, he CAN be replaced.

I agree with all of that and this has been said but if we were getting 2 very creative midfielders like
ideal = Ireland + Nzogbia
realistic = O'Hara + Nzogbia
we could change the way we play, keep the ball on the floor and start to be entertained.
Our brand of 4-4-2 is very hit and miss and that is why we went into some games last season expecting to dominate and being undone by a team who just had too much savvy - remember wigan at home - to a man they seemed to have better technical ability.
in most games we would play a sort of 4-5-1 or a 4-4-1-1 with Bent/Welbeck/Noble (1 of) up front and a midfiled 5 containing a at least 2 forward thinking creative players and probably 1 deep lying striker like a Campbell or Waghorn

Embarrassing. Shameful. Lack of ambition etc.
I agree with your post and think we'll be alright. You were just out of order for dismissing my thread.
