Default Car Insurance Question Smashed Window

    Need some advice...

    Scenario:
Purchased a unit for the house which would fit comfortably into the back of my car. Company selling the item suggest this rather than deliver it themselves so proceed to put the unit into the car.
Being slightly clumsy, aformentioned company employees drop the item and in doing so it crashes through the rear windscreen on the car. Their/company fault not mine.
Manager suggest driving back home and claiming on my insurance and then claim excess back from the store!! (like they will admit it after the event).
Where do I stand here? Should the car remain on the premises until the company fork out/get the rear windscreen done, and claim on their insurance, or do as the manager suggests? I think he may be trying to get the car off the premises in order to deny any responisbility after the fact.

    Advice really appreciated

CLAIM ON YOUR INSURANCE?! Are they mad? Fair enough they've offered to pay the excess but what about your increased premiums for the next however many years

No.. thats the argument. Why should my insurance cover something that was not done by me and the guilty party are actually present (and on company premises)

Claims for glass don't affect your premiums or no claims though (according to the nice lady on the Autoglass advert) So I guess the manager of the shop was looking at it that way to make it cheaper for them i.e. just pay the excess instead of £400 (or whatever) for the whole window.
