    Default Eric Black

The Black Cats faithful will hope O’Neill will bring his backroom team of Steve Walford and John Robertson with him. Cockney boy Walford has been with him through thick and thin, although long-time lieutenant Robertson has indicated he would like to call it a day. The Scot has, however, hinted he would be prepared to work as a part-time consultant. That’s why it is not 100 per cent certain that Bruce’s No.2 Eric Black will follow his former boss out of the exit door. Like O’Neill, Black – who looks after the team today – has strong Celtic connections and would like to work with the ex-Parkhead chief

Wouldn't mind Black staying with us hes a decent lad.

read on the link to the Celtic board someone asking if he would be part of his team.
For me, he was coach of that shower of shit weve seen all year so id like to see him moved on. Martin knows best like so we will see what he does.

To be honest we looked good in the first half of a lot of games..... twas the second half of games where things often fell apart and that not where coaching comes in but motivation.... I'd have no prob with Black hanging around but i'm sure Martin will get who he wants and that will be what is best.

Could be wrong, but I heard that a lot of the decisions, training, tactics etc were done by Black. Don't want him here if that is the case

Thing is if Robertson has retired then i think he will say to Black to stay on for a while see how things go.

It all depends on how Bruce used Black

If Bruce wasnt using him in the correct capacity then of course Black will have looked dreadful. At the end of the day Bruce told him what to do and he just followed instructions. So if O'Neill thinks he can do the job then that's good enough for me. An assistant is only as good as a manager makes him imo. Bit like a player put him in the wrong position and you won't get the best out of him

Tomorrow we will find out mate, if Black plays 4-4-2 then it was Bruce he made that choice, altho i cant see ass manager giving the manager instructions.

IIRC Saxton used to do a lot for Reid, when he switched to "Inchy" he was fucked. I think often the assistant is the brains whilst the manager is the one who motivates and buys the players
