Bruce has a chance to be ruthless this season

If players dont perform then they get dropped. Simple as. Vaughan playing shite? Bring in Colback. Cattermole not performing? Bring in Meyler. Titus playing shite? Bring in Turner. etc. etc.

We actually have real quality in our squad now... need to make the most of it.

aye but then again you need to try and establish a settled side. chopping and changing (especially at the back) can lead to disaster

With the exception of overplaying Henderson, Bruce never struck me as being that reluctant to drop a player.

Agreed-hopefully lessons learned from last year. We need a stable back five who get used to playing together. I'm guessing that Brown and O'Shea will be pretty much undroppable, IF we sign Hutton then that would be the same so hopefully we'll see a settled defence an a flexible midfield/attack depending on who we're playing
