Newcastle launch £1.5m raid for Forest star

Newcastle have made a £1.5million bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan.

McGugan, 22, has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the Championship.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew wants to offer him a dream move to the Premier League and is testing Forest's resolve with a firm offer.

[The Situation]

They'll sign a striker (Erdinc or Shane Long) and Neil Taylor from Swansea. I'd be surprised if they signed anyone else during the window.

He's a half-decent player to be fair. Usually I'd say I'd like us to sign him, but with the plethora of midfield options we'll have once Vaughan signs I think it's best we stay away

They didn't need as many players as we did/do. I just hope we bring in one or two really cracking players. Players that can change a game by themself.
