I couldn't understand for the life of me why the SFA could still punish Rangers. So essentially, the only way Rangers can satisfy the conditions to join the SFL is by transferring the membership of the oldco. But by transferring the membership, it means that they're still accountable for the punishments of the oldco. Whereas if they started completely afresh then they wouldn't face any punishment, but also wouldn't meet the standards to join the SFL.
Is that about right?

That about covers it, apart from the SFA imposing the condition of the acceptance of the embargo being a component of the transfer. Basically, agree to the embargo that the court said was unlawful or we won't agree to the transfer and you can fuck off to non league football.
