How many songs do we have?
Since not been able to go to the games with me being in America its interesting to see the new chants being fielded/amended/discussed/derided/approved on here and then seeing videos on youtube of said chants recorded at actual games. Got me thinking as to how many songs we have in our repertoire we sing regularly at games (say within the past 10 or so games to include the new chants) So i thought i'd compile a list, might have missed a few so feel free...
1. Red Flag
2. Wise Men Say
3. We are Sunderland say we are...
4. Stand up if you hate the mags
5. When i was young, i had no sense
6. Its a N and a E and a W C...
7. The Gallowgate is always full
8. Gary Rowell World
9. There's only one... (Gordon/Bardsley/Larsson/Bramble/Brown, from what ive heard)
10. Lee Lee Lee Cattermoooole
12. God took Messi and Pele...
13. Seb Larsson lalalalaa...
13. OhhhOhhhhOhhhhO'Neill
14. Sunderland Boot Boys
15. Horse with no name (Does this get regularly chanted?)
16. We're on our wayyy
17. If you hate Newcastle clap your hands
18. Frazier Campbell will always score goals.
19. Niall Quinn's disco pants
20. Kieeeraaaan! Kieeeeraaan!
21. We are We are Wearside.
22. Roker Road
23. Dont worry, About a thing...
Im sure there's more that escape me at present.

He's big, he's bad, he's Wesley Brown.

Re: How many songs do we have?
Aw aye! football chants are fascinating, and its funny to see the American reaction to them when i sing a few of ours to them after a few beers. For their sports teams they have a very limited number of chants. For example, Detroit Red Wings hockey team (one of the best in the NHL) pretty much only have one main chant (Lets go Red Wings! *stamp stamp stamp* Lets go Red Wings!) they sing that when they play the little accompanying organ jingle through the PA during breaks in play, so its almost orchestrated.
I think it would be an interesting sociology or anthropology study to look at which clubs had the most chants relative to their supporter base, and how these songs came to be sung in the first place (especially before the internet)

very good. It used to drive me insane as a young'un watching WWF because the crowd would chant "let's go *enter random wrestler's name*" over and over and it made absolutely no sense. It still doesn't and they've had numerous years to get it making sense!

do what?
"Come on!!" or "Ha'way!!" make sense. "Let's go" suggesting you're going somewhere doesn't seem relevant to anything.
I've had this exact argument a million times and I won't accept "let's go" makes sense.

Re: How many songs do we have?
Its somewhat of an Americanism, but yeah basically means like 'haway' or 'come on'. Even all my Red Wings fan mates said they need more chants like English footy, i even let them adapt some of ours to them, so they were singing...
'But by far the greatest team, the N H L has everr seen, and its the DEEtroit Red Wings, DEEtroit Red Wings H T!'
