Default Setting up a 5-a-side league

I'm thinking of setting up a 5-a-side league, however with it being totlaly new to me i was wondering if anyone has done this before or know anything about it. The part i'm not familiar with would be is whether or not insurance is needed and any oother legal aspects of it?

Cheers in advance for any help.

try getting in touch with john topping at durham fa. you would have to affilliate the league to them and im sure that he will be able to tell you exactly what is required. in 11 a side, the fa brought in a compulsory scheme this season where players individually pay personal accident insurance to them (or more likely the clubs do) whereas previously clubs and/or players could choose between their leagues insurance or go out and sort their own. I'd imagine that your public liability and whatever else may vary depending on where the games were played, i.e. indoor/ outdoor, school facilities/ leisure centre etc.

most 5 a side leagues around here are snidey in my opinion but thats another matter.

Its not only what they charge, its the way the get lads to register, i.e. the secretary is allowed to countersign for the player. Next thing, the team packs in midway through a season, get charged for the leagues "loss of earnings" and default fine for dropping out, this gets distributed between all registered players, and a lad who might have turned up once for a kick about with his mates suddenly finds he is suspended from all football until he stumps up his share of the fine which all goes into the pocket of the person running the league. Theres a lad who runs one locally, meant to be a not for profit organisation, he doesnt work but manages 3 holidays a year

I know mate. One lad on my 11aside team got suspended cos he owed a 6aside league £15. Same will happen to me soon as well.
