Default Academy Barn Update - may be SEB

After the application was approved by the planning committee at South Tyneside Council it was referred to the Secretary of State because it was in greenbelt land (standard procedure).

The SoS can then decide to 'call it in' to determine the application instead of leaving the decision to the planning authority.

Spoke with a rep from South Tyneside Council earlier and they said on this occasion the SoS decided that it didn’t need to be called in, so the barn now has permission subject to the conditions on the planning permission being discharged (met) etc.

    Good news!

Building the kernt I presume? I guess the plans have been with STC for ages now and have been tweaked/changed to meet the needs of building on greenbelt land already?

Conditions on the planning permission often require certain details to be confirmed to the authority prior to work commencing e.g. evidence of the materials to be used to be provided to the local planning authority.

Other than that, they're free to start building.

It's had permission for ages, SAFC just need to make a decision regarding the cost of building it. Although it's rumored that it may start in the new year.

    Link to the application documents.

    Approved 22/01/2010
