    Question crime and fine question

If a crime is worth £100 fine
and you earn £50 a week and another earns £200 a week

is the answer for a fine to the £100 crime

    you: 2 weeks wages fine (2 x £50 a week)
    + another : half a weeks wages @ £200 a week...half a week = £100

    OR

should the fine be a weeks wages ie you pay £50, another pays a weeks wages £200 ??

means tested fines is the answer of course but the rich establishment will never go for it.

or in other words your second suggestion

What if the person is unemployed? What if the person is self employed?

a rich person(on £200 a week) will say that is a £100 fine ie half a week wages, ....if you if you only earn £50 a week then that is 2 week wage fine ... (so rich pays £100 and poor pays2x £50)
OR should it be a ONE WEEK FINE ie £200 to the person who earns £200 a week and £50 to the person who earns £50 a week?

like I said, your 2nd suggestion would make perfect sense to me.

I guess if they are unemployed/self employed and commit a £100 "crime" the unemployed wil get state help and the self employed will be expected to pay their fine..........

the self employed in this country actually carry england...!

Then the unemployed people aren't actually being punished. Plus it wouldn't be a £100 fine anyway because that was the 'old' system, the 'new' system would be x weeks wages which would be nothing.

The point I was trying to make about self employed people was that their income may vary so it may be difficult to determine what their fine would be.

I don't see the problem with the way things are at the moment.
