    Default Suggest a car < £2k

To be used as a second car...

Must not make a 30 year old man look like a chav or a puff while driving it
    Decent mpg
    Cheap to insurance
    Isn't a 1 litre hairdryer
Reliable, and or cheap to fix
Must not cost more than £2k

    Any suggestions?

    Alfa Romeo 156 JTD
42mpg on average, engine more reliable than the petrol version an all.
Depends what floats your boat really mate.

2002 models or earlier can be bought for the £1000-£2000 mark now, make sure it has a history with it!

Something small to medium, and as new as possible, mainly for the sake of reliability.

On my searches, MG/Rovers have popped up alot, cheap because they're not made anymore, but low miles and reasonably new. i.e 2004, < 50k on the click, and under £2k. Downside is possible problems with the K series engine, but manageable.

The 156 is a tad ugly, the 147 is nice though but I think they're a little more expensive.
