I heard somewhere it is also early due to the fact it cannot be played within a certain number of days of the Champs league final as it is on the same (usually shite) pitch

Nah, it's still 3pm but there's a full set of league fixtures on the same day. It also means that the FA won't let the League One and Two play off finals be played at Wembley this season.

Basically the Champions League final moving to a Saturday has mangled up the fixture list to fuckery.

    it's a fucking disgrace like.

There should be no other English fixtures on the day of the FA cup final.

What if there is a team who make the final but they're in a relegation battle? They shouldn't have to have squad worries before a cup final.

Bad PR by the FA in my eyes.

Shame how the FA cup has been so devalued in recent years, when at one time the final was not only the most important day in English club football but also Worldwide.
I would like to see it regain it's former status, but something would have to give, especially in regard to the fixture overload of the top teams.
Why not restrict the Carling cup to teams not involved in Europe?
This would both ease the overload on the top teams and also allow the also rans at least a little chance of some glory.
