i dont really agree with the conservatives policies but if they do something to directly benefit Sunderland as a city i will give them the credit they are due, im a Lib Dem boy but ill give them some time to do something before i criticise them.

Janet Johnson, the city council's deputy chief executive, said: "Tesco's agreement to the release of the Vaux site is an important step.

"However, we must be mindful of the current economic climate and in meantime people must understand that there might be no movement on site in the immediate future."

The site is going to remain a tip for another decade.

And they don't even mention the fact that the land has been bought by One North East, which is about to be disbanded.

And what was the point in insisting Tesco build a store with less parking and no petrol station at Roker as opposed to the bigger one they wanted?
