    Default Knocking down a garage

We're planning on knocking down the dilapidated garage in the yard of our new house. Of the four garage walls, only one needs knocking down (the other three are the house wall, the side wall and the end wall). Has anyone any idea how much it'd cost for someone to come with a skip and remove the wall and the corrugated roof?

The corrugated roof MAY contain asbestos. I wouldnt go ripping it down until someone has checked it. Plenty of asbestos removal companies in the Yelllow Pages.

It does but my gardener brother reckons he's removed them before when he worked as a landscaper and says you don't need a proper removal company, as I assumed we would, as it's not the dangerous stuff :s

I've knocked down a garage in the back yard. It was great fun.

The roof had some asbestos and I removed it and the council took it away. (I think for free)

Just hire a skip and get a big hammer. I reused a lot of the bricks to build a small wall elsewhere.

Better to be safe than sorry where asbestos is concerned.

Just pay the extra to have a specialist remove it

Here is the problem, unless you know how to remove it correctly and with the right protection on you are putting yourself at risk mate. Any scratch or breakage to the asbestos reseases the asbestos particles.

I know it seems costly but get some other soul to do it with the correct kit, otherwise 20 year down the line you may regret it.

The council bloke assessed it and said there was no risk.
