I refer to Scottish football as the 'Northern League' these days. Perhaps I shouldn't as I actually like the real Northern League and there are some decent sides in that who try to play proper football.

The Highlight of the season up there these days seems to be when the Old Firm meet 27 times a season and kick the living daylights out of each other on and off the pitch while totally ignoring the ball.

I saw 102 live games last season and have done 49 already this season. Thankfully this does not leave me much time for watching the 'Northern League' on the telly anymore.

Is it fuck. These chants have went on for donkeys years and have never affected the game. It's a case of "i don't care what happens to the game provided we stop those nasty old firm fans from singing!". Totally neglecting the game. The Scottish game is fucked man. Is the right answer.

They had an opportunity to increase the size of the top division last season and bring some new blood and some added interest into the fixture list for the fans. They decided not to when the vast majority of the fans were strongly in favour. Since when did the fans matter though. They will reap what they have sowed in even lower attendances.

I agree that it is important to stamp out the sectarianism as well though.

They're two completely separate and unrelated issues in the game you pleb. One does not suffer as the result of the other.

It's astonishing that you managed to turn a thread about the standard of football in a St Johnstone-Aberdeen game into a complaint about Rangers being victimised for the brain dead, sectarian shite that gets sung by their fans.
