niall quinn stand.....bob murray
tin hat on.....i totally agree with all calls for a fitting tribute to niall quinn, but i also think people fail to remember that bob murray once saved the club 'when on it's knee's' also built SOL, signed denis smith, reidy who brought in marco, ball, quinn, phillips etc, and under his watch we finished in our highest ever prem position, i'm well aware it ended sour but he didnt walk till the club was in good hands, just a thought, and i'm aware it won't be a popular one!

I agree.
Although, Quinny is the biggest legend we've ever had IMHO.

i agree, but think a stand named after him may be a bit much, though i would have nothing against it.
quinny, murray, montgomery, hurely. that would be fine with me though i think gurney & allan should be in there anarl. fuck it, named the corners and we've got double as many stands to name.

Re: niall quinn stand.....bob murray
I agree with what you say about Murray, but he is Life President of the club already.

Re: niall quinn stand.....bob murray
He's club president and has the Murray gates at the stadium. Thats honour enough for Murray. Theres enough of a counter argument against his reign to suggest that any further accolades would be OTT.

What about changing Black Cat House to Niall Quinn House.

I agree that Niall Quinn deserves all the praise and accolades he is receiving. He also benefits from being a personable, likeable and generally pleasant individual. Bob Murray had none of his social graces and was regularly criticised for his parsimony and finacial caution. But the point you make regarding his contributions to SAFC are all valid.
I listed on another thread some other 'legends' from further back in our club's history (Charlie Buchan, Bob Gurney, Raich Carter, Len Shackleton, Brian Clough and Jim Montgomery), all of whom deserve, in my opinion, some mark of rememberance. On reflection, Bob Murray should have been included in that list.
This does not diminish in any way the high estimation that I hold Niall Quinn in, but, rather, places it in some context and perspective.

I think the only thing the big man wished for was a full house for homes games
on more occasions, shame, it's too late now.
