Default hearing the whistle or not

van persie claimed he could not hear the whistle. it begs the question, is he deaf, as all the other players could clearly hear the whistle during the rest of the game, or there would have been numerous incidents of players continuing

also van persie had performed two yellow card fouls in the first half and had been working his ticket all night

it gave arsenal an easy excuse.

also wengers interview at the end. "with 11 men they would have won the tie"

utter rubbish and it really shows how myopic he really must be

hopefully man utd put them out of the fa cup on saturday.

arsenal have an overblown superiority complex, that is lead by the paranoid wenger.

sorry and all that but just had to post this. no need to respond

as for being an english club. yes they play in england but the stadium is the emirates, the advertising in the ground is nearl 100% aimed at an overseas market and wenger has gone out of his way to play a completely foreign player based team. bar wilshere and walcott.

i am glad they are out. no sympathy whatsoever as they got a taste last night of how, the lower clubs in the premier are reffed when they play the big 4

didn't see the match but saw van Persie's second yellow on the news. However, his first yellow was for smacking someone in the face wasn't it? If he'd kept his hands down, he gets just one yellow card

The defenders close to him seemed to hear it OK.

    Funny that.

he had also done a snide foul ten mins earlier. souness said at half time, that he had his "angry head on" and was risking a red card.

there was plenty of mouth going on, between the players, which may have went back to the world cup final.

to use the didnt hear it excuse is rubbish. if it was that hard to hear, the game would have been full of similar incidents of players going on

it has given arsenal an easy excuse, but that fact was, they had no shots at goal and were clearly the inferior side

exactly. they all clearly pulled up.

its sourgrapes from van persie backed up by the paranoid wenger.

wenger made the comment that with 11 men, they would have won the tie. was he actually watching the game?

Amazing then how they still never got a shot on target with 11 men. If they played with 15 men they would still have been beaten

    thats not the point though

the point was whether he heard it or not, did it really warrent a yellow card? He struck the ball just after the whistle was blown, hadn't looked up or shot as if he knew it would be dissallowed etc. Very very harsh to send someone off for that, essentially spoiling a game. I still think Arsenal would have lost, don't get me wrong, but now the game will always be spoilt by the 'what if' question.

also if it had been done by everybody's favourite 'Lionel Messi' I doubt we'd have seen a red card at all

(btw i had no real bias either way, couldn't give a flying fuck)

    dangerous but true.

he knew he was offside, imo. pros know that and the way he hit the shot showed this.

it was his third bookable transgestion of the night anyway. arsenal clutching at straws and they never admit they were soundly beaten.

    poor stuff

it was his third bookable offence of the night. a snide drag of the studs, down a player calf, the ridiculous push in alves face, which is always a yellow and even a red at times.

then this kicking the ball away, plus numerous examples of dissent and working his ticket with the spanish lads, all through the first half, which had its roots in the world cup final

no sympathy whatsoever. the ref could easily have in his report that the second was issued due to "persistant misconduct"

they have no case and arsenal are paranoid, bad losers
