    Default Strat vs Les Paul

    Simplistic I know.

    Which is the better guitar?

Strat seems more versatile to me. Just listened to the instrumental version of Wicked Game. Strat sounds gorgeous. Lovely clean, pure sound. I love Gilmour's Strat's sound also.

But which guitar sounds better straight into the amp, with no effects?

I'm nee guitarist btw, just a fan (podgy crap fingers )

I've always been a Gibson man, personally. I prefer the neck and the balls out tone.

I prefer the sound of a Les Paul through a Fender amp, and a strat through a Vox. Both different, but LPs just shade it for me as they are easier to make a racket with and you look like a beast, whereas with a Strat (unless it's relic'ed) you just look like an X-factor "live" session player.

Did you know Jack Bauer himself has over 100 Les Pauls?

I prefer the Les Paul for that crunch but the controls for the strat are right there where you need them. Other than that depends on the sound you want.
