I don't know whether it's t'internet, message boards, the manner by which the club conducts business or what... and I have no idea whether its like this with other clubs... but by the time anyone actually signs and joins us, the sense of relief that a 'saga' (cos it usually is) has reached a conclusion usually makes one forget stuff like (in my case) that I have never heard of the player in question, never seen him play and that he's probably not gonna get a game in the first team next season anyway - until he 'beds in'.

Maybe the club's plan is to make every signing seem even better than anyone initially thought by dragging it out so long. Other clubs become interested along the way, adding to the "excitement" and sense of achievement when the player does arrive.
