    Default Jamal Bouzid Fun Day

Back in april, a team mate of mine, Jamal Bouzid, dropped doon dead after a kick about aged only 21. Anyone from shields especially will remember it happening as it was all owa the paper for a while.

Anyway, we, the mighty South Shields Vets ReUnited, have organised a family fun day in his honour. here are the details if anyone is interested.

On Sunday 17th July (Jamal's Birthday) we are holding a "Fun day" for all the family at Harton Welfare. The event will start at 11:00 and continue throughout the day and into the evening.

At present the activities on offer are:

Adult 5-A-Side Competition (Ring or Text 07760 618689 to enter a team)
    Football Activities for all Ages
    BBQ
    Raffle
Entertainment (including on the evening in the bar)
    Bouncy Castle
Face Painting (11:00 til 13:00 only)
    Bar Facilities
    Indoor Games.

It costs £5 to get in for adults and accompanied children will be admitted free. The event will run from 11:00 til 18:00 and it is hoped that we can raise a boatload of money for Jamal's family (or a charity of their choice) as well as honouring Jamal's memory and remembering him for the happy carefree chappie that he was.

Please spread the word, and if you can attend even for a short time on the day then please do. it promises to be a good day and hopefully a good laugh aswell.

Cheers and see ya there hopefully!

I would just like to inform you's all of how our Jamal Funday went on the 17th July. We also had a small event last sunday and as such the total raised has just been finalised.

Despite rain for most of the day, we managed to have not only a successful day, but a fantastically enjoyable one. We managed to get a bouncey castle with a cover on, so the kids could still play on there, and the football competition was naturally run outdoors aswell. Indoors we had a whole host of activities including a magician, various singers, a guy who made balloon animals and a quiz.

In between showers we managed to get the football tennis going, along with a golf shot competition, some stocks to pelt wet sponges at any victims and a penalty shoot out. The barbeque was running non stop from 10 til almost 6 and despite the weather the place was heaving. Everybody there had a great time and the day was a roaring success. Even the raffle was good fun! We managed to raise and astonishing £1,415:24 on the day, as well as £1,000 from Durham FA which gave us a massive total of £2,415:24

We would just like to say a BIG thank you to everybody who contributed to making the day such a big success, including:

    Bolam Sports
    Jazz Hairdressers
    Hebburn Iona FC
    South Tyne Benevolent Fund
    Franky Goodwin
    Whiteleas FC
    Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare
    White Horse FC
    New Crown FC
    New Crown Hotel
    Alfa (UK)
    James Bassett
    Colin Bourdiec
    Samantha Patterson
Jon King, Caroline Ames & Kirstie McDonald
    Les (Ressly Pest, Whickham FC)
    Beneden Healthcare
    South Shields FC
    Shields Gazette
    NicolasFaces
    Kool Kastles
    Mick Sharpe and Andrew Botha
    Durham FA
As well as everyone who displayed our posters, donated raffle prizes, attended the day, bought raffle tickets and participated in the events.

It was a great day, to say the least, and everyone there had a fantastic time.

    Cheers
