He's done nothing of any note when he has played and will be 1 of the highest earners at the club.

It looks like he is standing in a doorway that's about to be closed behind him.

The Black Cats beat Hartlepool 4-0 in September in their first game of the group format competition, and also face Carlisle at home in December and Newcastle away in January.

Diouf, who has only made three substitute appearances in the last four league games, joins Daryl Murphy and Pascal Chimbonda to take on a youthful Sheffield side, managed by Mark Smith.

Maltese international goalkeeper Justin Haber and Australian international David Carney will provide the only experience for United.

We haven't though, we've played him left wing, and as a second striker, and at times told him to lead the line. He's a right winger, which is where Malbranque's been played all season, and if he was given a run on the right wing I'm sure we'd begin to see something from him. Ten minute run outs and being told to play all over is never going to do the lad any good, but unfortunately I think Keane bought him because he was going cheap, and is clearly a good player, rather than because he knew exactly what he wanted him for.
