They had it, then they didn't, then they did. But as stands the the only legacy for the stadium, as it stands, is that the world athletics championships will be held there in 2017.
Most involved in the Olympic legacy want the stadium to be used regularly by something synonymous with that area of London and I think the fact I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles was included in the opening ceremony says a lot.

It's an athletics stadium with too many seats. It will end up being a £9b white elephant. I enjoyed it all, but in years to come, I don't know if we will feel it was all worth it.

Even as a football fan who does not bother that much with athletics, I think it will be a travesty if it is made into a football stadium. All sports deserve the profile football has and I think a true world class venue could really help that. Young footballers dream of playing at Wembley, it would be great to see a generation of young athletes dreaming of competing there.
